The Union Public Service Commission is a constitutional body authorized to conduct civil servant exams within the country. The UPSC is responsible for selecting and hiring candidates for All India Services, Central Services, and Armed Forces.

The UPSC exam is one of the most competitive exams in India which is held every year. Lakhs of candidates appear for this exam but only a small fraction can clear it and get the post. It is not just a bookish test but personality tests are also given by the candidates to see if they are suitable for this career or not.

How to prepare for UPSC exams-

1) Prepare yourself

Before preparing for UPSC we should know our goal and motivation why we are taking this exam and why we want to become civil servants. Clear your mind, set your goals, and prepare yourself for the best and worst.

Prepare yourself for the challenges that will come before the exam, during the exams, and after the exams. Prepare yourself physically as well as mentally because it is a long challenging journey.

2) Start organizing

When you have prepared yourself completely and now you are ready to take your exams, then organize your preparation and start preparing for the exam one year in advance. Organize from where you have to start your preparation, books, notes, last year’s papers, and other study material that is required for the exams.

3) Preparation Time Table

After organizing your books, and notes, now prepare a timetable for study. It is very important to make a timetable for when you have to study, for how many hours, and when you will take a rest, when will you solve last year’s paper. So this will help you to reduce the preparation burden and help you to achieve your goal.

4) Choose Optional Subjects

When we choose other subjects in the option, then our chances of scoring increases. So whatever subject you choose, do it after thinking carefully.

5) Preparing Notes

Before making notes, read the UPSC syllabus thoroughly. The UPSC syllabus is very vast, so prepare notes related to it and according to it. Some of the questions are also prepared from NCERT books so try to go through it.

6) Solving last year’s papers

When we solve last year’s papers, we understand the paper pattern and when we solve papers daily, we get to know in how much time we can solve the paper.

7) Revision

Revision is very important for taking any exam. When we prepare for exams, whatever we learn, it is very important to revise to remember it so that it stays in our minds. So it is necessary to revise your portion timely and daily.

8) UPSC Interview

The final exam of UPSC is an interview or personality test. This is more than bookish knowledge, for that, you have to work on your communication skills, body language, and how you will deal with situations, with your stress.
