WhatsApp’s Status Update Feature: Meta has finally released a major WhatsApp update with a new music feature to add songs to the status. The feature is aimed at making WhatsApp more interactive and fun, just like Instagram Stories. Although the feature has begun to roll out to some, the worldwide roll-out is anticipated to happen in a few weeks.

Millions of Songs to Choose From

With this fresh update, the users of WhatsApp will get to add snippets of popular songs to their status updates, which will vanish after 24 hours, just like normal statuses. As per Meta, WhatsApp’s music library shall grant users access to millions of songs so that they can customize their status updates and share via music. This feature has now been added to the normal status update interface, along with video, image, and text.

How to Add Music to Your WhatsApp Status

Adding music to your WhatsApp status is easy and as easy as on Instagram’s Stories music. Here are the steps:

  • Open WhatsApp and navigate to the Status section.
  • Tap on Add Status and choose a photo or video from your gallery.
  • You will notice a new music icon at the top of the screen: tap on it.
  • Navigate through the list of music or search for your favorite song.
  • Customize the chosen music clip and then click on “Done.”
  • Publish your status in the normal manner, and automatically, the music will be posted.

Up to 15 seconds of music may be chosen by users for an image and up to 60 seconds for a video, increasing the dynamism and expressiveness of status posts.

Why This Music Feature is Special

One of the best things about this new music update is the ability to choose a specific part of a song to be posted in the status update. This ability provides users with full control of what they would like to feature from the song, and it helps them better keep up with viral trends or better convey themselves.

Also, like other WhatsApp material, the music status updates will be all end-to-end encrypted, something that is going to maintain users’ security and privacy in place. The new feature, as much as it is thrilling, will increase user experience and add more personalization to status updates.
