HIV is a dangerous virus that weakens the immune system of humans. This virus targets the cells of the body that help the body fight infection. If HIV infection is not treated, it can turn into HIV AIDS. Crores of people around the world are struggling with AIDS. Amidst all this, a report has come which has shocked everyone. In a new study, scientists have claimed that by the year 2030, more than 1 crore people can be infected with HIV and 30 lakh people can die.

Situation will be worst

According to the report published in the Lancet HIV Journal, international funding for HIV prevention and treatment programs has been cut. Due to this, the situation can be dire by the year 2030. In this study, a model of 24 percent reduction in HIV funding by 2026 has been presented. Major donor countries such as the US, UK, France, Germany and the Netherlands have cut AIDS funding by 8 to 70 percent.

18 million HIV infected

If these cuts continue, there could be 4.4 million to 18 million new HIV infections and 770,000 to 2.9 million deaths between 2025 and 2030. Donald Trump announced cuts in HIV funding after the swearing-in of the new US president. The US had halted HIV aid, which has adversely affected services such as antiretroviral therapy, prevention and testing.
