The good news is waiting for school students. Students in certain areas of UP and Delhi are in for a treat on February 5, 2025 (Wednesday). Schools in Prayagraj, Ayodhya, Varanasi, and Sultanpur in Uttar Pradesh will be closed, and so will schools in the capital, Delhi. The reasons for the holidays differ between the two places. In Delhi, all schools, colleges, and even banks will be shut down today.

This is due to the Delhi Vidhan Sabha Election Date 2025, which has prompted a government holiday. Today, around 1.55 crore voters in Delhi will cast their votes to choose from 699 candidates vying for 70 assembly seats. The results will be announced on February 8, 2025. Meanwhile, in Prayagraj, the Maha Kumbh Mela 2025 is also causing many districts in Uttar Pradesh to have a holiday.

Schools in Delhi will be closed

The Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) has mandated the closure of all central government offices and industrial establishments in Delhi for the elections. On election day, many schools and colleges serve as polling stations, which is why all educational institutions in Delhi will be closed on January 5, 2025.

Where is the holiday in Uttar Pradesh?

The Maha Kumbh Mela 2025 is set to take place in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh. As a result, millions of devotees are flocking to Prayagraj and nearby areas. To ensure the safety and comfort of children amidst the large crowds, it has been decided to keep schools closed in Prayagraj, Varanasi, Ayodhya, and Sultanpur until February 5, 2025. Classes will resume on February 6, 2025 (Thursday). Students can also check for holiday updates directly from their schools.

School holidays in these Uttar Pradesh districts began on February 3, coinciding with the significant turnout for the Amrit Snan (Amrit Snan 2025) during the Maha Kumbh on that day.
