Due Electric Bills: The state government of Madhya Pradesh has become strict against those who do not pay electricity bills. In Datia district, 11 arms licensees have been suspended for not depositing the huge amount of due electricity bills. Despite giving notices several times, these people did not deposit the due electric bill amount. After this, on the recommendation of the power company, Collector Sandeep Makin issued an order to suspend the arms licenses of these people on Friday.

Company had adopted several measures to recover the dues

As per Media reports, Madhya Pradesh Power Distribution Company had adopted several measures to recover the dues from them. Hoardings in his name were put up at intersections, notices of disconnection of electricity connections and attachment of property were sent, but these too did not yield any concrete results.

Power distribution company identified such defaulters

Now when the company has taken the step of cancelling the arms license, the dues have started accumulating. According to the media report, the general manager of the power company had said that the power distribution company identified such defaulters who have due electricity bills of lakhs of rupees and who also have arms licenses.

Company officials discussed with Collector and SP

The company officials discussed with the Collector and SP and decided that the arms licenses of these defaulters should be canceled, but first notices should be given to them. According to a recent order from the Home Department of Madhya Pradesh, ‘any armed electricity consumer who fails to pay their outstanding bills on time or is caught using unauthorised electricity will have their arms licences cancelled. The enforcement of this rule falls under the purview of the District Collector, who will take swift action against violators.’
