Initially, the vibrations were mild, but they quickly intensified, waking many residents from their sleep. This sudden jolt caused widespread panic, prompting individuals to rush outside to safety. The earthquake’s effects were felt not only in Patna but also in Gopalganj, Bhagalpur, and nearby regions, leaving many residents alarmed.

Where was the epicenter of the earthquake?

The epicenter was located 3 kilometers from Gokarneshwar in Nepal, with a depth of 10 kilometers. Reports from the Earthquake Network app confirmed the seismic activity. Preliminary data indicated that a separate earthquake of 6.5 magnitude occurred 84 kilometers northwest of Lobuche in Nepal, also at a depth of 10 kilometers, affecting northern Bihar and Patna.

The tremors in Gopalganj were noted at 6:32 am and lasted for several seconds, disrupting the sleep of many. As the ground shook, beds and ceiling fans rattled, causing further distress. Residents hurriedly exited their homes, sharing their experiences of the quake. 

Tremors were felt across several countries

Reports indicate that tremors were felt across several states in China, Bhutan, Nepal, and India; however, there have been no reports of casualties or property damage thus far.
