Bihar’s State Health Society (SHS) has announced the recruitment of 4,500 Community Health Officer (CHO) positions and invites applications for the role. The official notification has been issued, and candidates can start filling out applications on the official website https://shs.bihar.gov.in/. Eligible candidates must apply by 6 pm on Thursday, November 21, 2024.

Age Limit for CHO Post:

  • Male candidates from the General and EWS categories have a maximum age limit of 42 years, while female
  • candidates from these categories have a maximum age limit of 45 years.
  • Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe candidates from Bihar have a maximum age limit of 47 years.
  • The minimum age limit for all candidates is 21 years.
  • Selected candidates for the CHO post will receive a monthly salary of ₹40,000.

Application Fee:

  • Candidates from the General, EWS, BC, and EBC categories must pay a ₹500 application fee.
  • Female candidates from these categories must pay a ₹250 fee.
  • Male and female candidates from the SC, ST, and PWBD categories of Bihar state must pay a ₹250 fee.

How many posts are reserved for which category…?

At present, a total of 4,500 vacancies have been announced for the CHO post, out of which 979 vacancies are for the unreserved category. 245 posts are reserved for the EWS category, 1,243 for the Scheduled Castes and 55 for the Scheduled Tribes. 1,170 posts will be recruited for the EBS category, 640 posts for the BC category and 168 posts for the WBC category.

What is the eligibility for the CHO post…?

Any candidate applying for these vacancies announced by the State Health Society of Bihar under the National Health Mission (NHM) must have a BSc Nursing degree from a recognized university. Apart from this, it is also mandatory for the candidate to have a six-month Certificate Course in Community Health certificate issued by the Indian Nursing Council or State Nursing Council.
