Good news for Train passengers. 1,225 Special Trains will be operated by Indian Railway for Mahakumbh 2025. As per reports, around 40 crore individuals are expected to travel to Sangam city through various means of transportation such as trains, roads, and flights for Maha Kumbh 2025. In this scenario, Indian Railways has also prepared to transport pilgrims to Prayagraj. 

 

1,225 trains that are designated as special

 

Railway officials have reported that 140 regular trains will be heading to Prayagraj for the Mahakumbh event. In addition, Indian Railways is also ready to send off 1,225 special trains. These trains will operate specifically for people to bathe, especially on 6 particular days of Mahakumbh.

Many pilgrims who travel to Prayagraj also enjoy going to Ayodhya and Kashi. The Railways plans to operate numerous MEMU special trains within a brief period of time. The MEMU service trains will make stops at stations such as Prayagraj, Ayodhya, Varanasi, and Rambagh. Visitors to Prayagraj can also discover nearby tourist attractions. To achieve this goal, Indian Railways plans to operate trains connecting Prayagraj with Chikrakoot, Jhansi, Banda, Mankipur, Fatehpur, Govindpuri, and Orai.

 

An increase of 177% in the number of special trains

 

Based on the data, of the 1,225 special trains operated by the Railways, 825 trains are expected to have a short distance. 400 trains have also been arranged for long distance journeys simultaneously. This represents a growth of 177% compared to the Kumbh Mela 2019. The 2019 Kumbh Mela saw the operation of 533 short-distance trains and 161 long-distance trains.

 

Railways released a contact number without any charges

 

Travelers heading to Mahakumbh frequently find themselves unsure about the schedules of trains and availability of confirmed tickets. In this scenario, the Railways has provided a helpline number that can be used to obtain all train-related information. The toll-free number to call is 1800-4199-139. A mobile application has been created for Kumbh 2025 as well. This call center will be available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to assist the worshippers.
