Ahead of the IPL 2025 mega auction, Gujarat Titans have reshuffled their coaching staff by appointing former Indian wicketkeeper-batsman Parthiv Patel as the new assistant and batting coach.
Parthiv, who represented India in 25 Tests, 38 ODIs, and 2 T20Is between 2002 and 2011, brings extensive experience from his IPL career. He played 139 matches across six different teams, amassing 2848 runs and hitting 13 half-centuries. The Former India’s keeper last appearance in the IPL was in 2019 with Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB).
Throughout his career, he also played for Chennai Super Kings (CSK), Kochi Tuskers Kerala, Deccan Chargers, Sunrisers Hyderabad, and Mumbai Indians. Notably, he won the IPL title twice with Mumbai Indians, in 2015 and 2017. Now, Parthiv will join Gujarat Titans’ head coach Ashish Nehra, also his former India teammate, to strengthen the team’s support staff.

With IPL 2025 approaching, Gujarat Titans aim to strengthen their coaching team, and Parthiv will play a significant role in this process. His vast experience and cricketing knowledge, gained over 17 years, will help improve the batting skills and strategies of the players. Parthiv is renowned for his sharp cricketing acumen and ability to mentor young talents, making him an invaluable addition to the team.
Parthiv’s Impressive IPL Career
Parthiv brings extensive IPL experience to the Gujarat Titans. He has been part of six IPL teams over his career, including Chennai Super Kings (CSK), Kochi Tuskers Kerala, Deccan Chargers, Sunrisers Hyderabad, Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), and Mumbai Indians. After retiring from cricket in 2020, Parthiv spent three years working in Mumbai Indians’ talent search department. This will be his first coaching role in the IPL.
Gujarat Titans’ IPL Performance Under Pandya and Gill
Under Hardik Pandya’s leadership, Gujarat Titans won the IPL title in 2022, marking their first-ever championship win. The following year, they finished as runners-up. After Pandya’s return to Mumbai Indians in the 2024 mini-auction, Shubman Gill took over as the new captain of Gujarat Titans. Meanwhile, Mumbai Indians had a disappointing performance under Hardik Pandya’s captaincy in IPL 2024.
