Those who claim that the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) is set to issue a 7-rupee coin in honour of cricketer Mahendra Singh Dhoni. The PIB Fact Check has clarified that no such coin is being issued by the RBI, and the Department of Economic Affairs has made no such announcement.

PIB’s Clarification on the Viral Statement

In its fact check, PIB stated, “A picture is being circulated on social media claiming that a new Rs 7 coin is being issued to honour Mahendra Singh Dhoni for his achievements in cricket.”
