Kedarnath Ropeway Approved: Many big decisions have been made during the Union Cabinet meeting today, i.e., on Wednesday (March 5, 2025). The Modi government has approved the ropeway project for Kedarnath Dham in Uttarakhand. The 12.9 km long ropeway project from Sonprayag to Kedarnath has been approved. Its total cost will be Rs 4,081.28 crore. National Highway Logistics Management will build it. With its construction, 8 to 9 hours will be completed in 36 minutes.
This central government move will promote the Chardham Yatra and benefit local businesses. This will keep the pilgrims moving for the entire six months. Not only this, there will also be an increase in employment opportunities during the travel season.
The ropeway will be developed in a public-private partnership. It will be developed using Tri-Cable Detachable Gondola (3S) technology. With its construction, 18 thousand passengers will be able to travel daily. Especially for children and adults, visiting Kedarnath Dham will become very easy. The ropeway project will be a boon for pilgrims visiting Kedarnath. This will save a lot of time. It will have a seating capacity of 36 people.

A decision has also been taken regarding farmers in the Union Cabinet. The government has decided to spend Rs 3880 crore on livestock health and disease prevention. Under this, two main animal diseases, foot and mouth disease (FMD) and brucellosis, will be dealt with.
