The Uniform Civil Code (UCC) has been implemented in Uttarakhand. With this, it is now mandatory for couples living in live-in relationships in the state to get registered. Couples will have to fill out a 16-page form to legally live in a live-in relationship under the Uniform Civil Code. Interestingly, the couple will also need to obtain a certificate from a religious guru along with this form. The certificate will confirm that the couple is eligible to marry if they choose to. The certificate will also require details of previous relationships. If this process is not completed, the couple could face a jail sentence of up to six months. In this article, we will share all the details regarding this matter.
Registration Process for Live-in Relationships
A person can register for a live-in relationship either online or with the help of an agency designated by the state government. The agency may charge a service fee. Alternatively, online registration can be completed through the official web portal www.ucc.uk.gov.in or the mobile app.

How to Register Online
To register a live-in relationship online, one of the partners must sign up using their Aadhaar card. After entering the Aadhaar number, an OTP will be sent to the mobile number linked with the Aadhaar. The OTP must be entered for verification. The Aadhaar number will serve as the User ID for all future processes.
Once logged in, one of the registrants must enter their details and upload relevant documents. The portal or app will guide the individual step by step through the process.
Important Note: If one of the registrants is a foreign national, the online registration process cannot be completed until the foreign national is issued an Aadhaar card.
