Weather Update: Due to the new western disturbance, the mood of the weather is seen changing very rapidly. According to the IMD, there will be no change in the minimum temperature during the next 48 hours. During the next three days, a drop of two to four degrees Celsius can be seen in northwest, west, central and eastern India.

Heavy snowfall in Himachal

The Meteorological Department issued an orange alert on December 28 regarding heavy snowfall and cold waves in Himachal Pradesh. Heavy rain and snowfall occurred in six districts: Lahaul-Spiti, Chamba, Kangra, Kullu, Shimla, and Kinnaur.

Districts like Mandi, Kull,u and Chamba are expected to experience severe colds until January 1. Dense fog on January 1 may further reduce visibility and make travel difficult. Shimla recorded a temperature of 5 degrees Celsius on Friday; it is expected to increase slightly on December 28.

Severe cold in Rajasthan

Most areas of Rajasthan are experiencing severe colds. In addition, moderate rain occurred in many places on Friday due to a western disturbance. Dense fog prevailed on Fridays in many districts of Rajasthan as well. Many areas have been experiencing severe colds for many days.

Snowfall in many parts of Kashmir

Officials said the season’s first snowfall occurred in the plains of the Srinagar, Ganderbal, Anantnag, Kulgam, Shopian, and Pulwama districts. Due to the fresh snowfall, the Srinagar-Leh highway and Mughal road have been closed.

According to the Indian Meteorological Department, an alert regarding snowfall and rain in Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Jammu, and Kashmir has been issued. Lightning is possible in Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, West Uttar Pradesh, and East Rajasthan today and tomorrow. Rain and thunderstorms may also occur.
