Weather Update: An outbreak of cold is spreading across the country. In many states, including Delhi, Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, and Himachal Pradesh, people have found living difficult due to the severe cold. In Delhi-NCR, intermittent rain has continued since Wednesday night, increasing the cold. Heavy rain was seen in Delhi in the early hours of Thursday. Due to the rain, the temperature is expected to drop further.

However, due to the rain, some relief is being seen from fog and pollution. Traffic is being disrupted due to reduced visibility caused by dense fog. Many trains and flights are also running late. The Meteorological Department has issued an alert regarding dense fog in many districts of UP. A warning was also issued regarding rain on Thursday.

According to IMD, colds are likely to increase in different areas of Himachal Pradesh on January 1causing the temperature OL to drop significantly. Dense fog will persist across northwest India for four to five the next 4-5 days.

Dense fog may prevail in many areas, especially areas like Himachal Pradesh, during night and morning hours from January 17-20. Dense fog may trouble people in Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Madhya Pradesh, Assam and other northeastern states in the next few days.

Delhi weather

Rain was recorded after dense fog prevailed in Delhi-NCR on Wednesday night. The fog significantly reduced visibility and disrupted over 100 flights and 26 trains. The IMD had predicted rain in Delhi NCR on January 15 and 16.

The Meteorological Department has predicted light rain and dense fog on Thursday. The minimum temperature is expected to be around 10 degrees Celsius, while the maximum will be around 17 degrees Celsius.

IMD issues rain for various states

According to the Meteorological Department, sporadic rains may be seen in Jammu-Kashmir-Ladakh-Gilgit-Baltistan-Muzaffarabad and Uttarakhand on January 16. Also, rain and snowfall are expected in Himachal Pradesh on January 16-17. An alert was also issued regarding rain in Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Uttar Pradesh, East Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh on January 16. There is a possibility of rain in Vidarbha on January 16. There is a possibility of thunderstorms at sporadic places in western Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh and western Rajasthan on January 16-17.

Heavy rainfall may occur at some places in the Nicobar Islands on January 16. Light to moderate rain with thunder and lightning is likely in Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Karaikal on January 18-19. An alert has been issued regarding rain in Kerala and Mahe on January 19. Heavy rainfall is likely in some places in Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Karaikal, and Kerala.
