New Delhi: An Earthquake jolted India’s neighbouring countries, Myanmar and Thailand, on Friday, causing people to go into shock. Earthquake jolts were felt not once but many times, which frightened people to come out of their houses. The earthquake’s magnitude was 7.7, so no information about the damage has yet been received.

According to media reports, the German Research Centre for Geosciences informed on Friday that an earthquake of magnitude 7.7 was felt in Myanmar. Meanwhile, GFZ said that the earthquake’s epicentre was at a depth of 10 kilometres near Mandalay city. Myanmar is considered one of the most seismically active regions in the world.

There is a possibility of heavy damage due to the earthquake tremors. There are also reports of some buildings being razed to the ground, and the videos rapidly going viral on social media.

Emergency declared in Thailand.

According to the Indian Meteorological Department, the earthquake’s epicentre was 10 kilometres below. Tremors were felt in far-flung areas of northern and central Thailand. After the earthquake, it was decided that an emergency in Bangkok should be declared.
