Delhi Assembly Elections 2025: Voting has been ongoing in the Delhi Assembly elections since 7 am, and voters are participating in large numbers. On Tuesday, the police registered a case against AAP candidate Amanatullah Khan from Okhla for violating the model code of conduct. The AAP leader has been accused of campaigning in his assembly constituency after the election campaign deadline ended at 6 pm on February 3, 2025.

According to Delhi Police, Amanatullah Khan campaigned for more than 100 of his supporters late Tuesday night. The Election Commission ended the campaign deadline 48 hours before the voting date. A decision was made to ban election campaigning in Delhi from 6 pm on February 3. An FIR has been registered against AAP MLA Amanatullah Khan under Section 223 of the Indian Penal Code and Section 126 of the Representation of the People Act.

What did Delhi Police say in its statement?

After registering a case against AAP MLA and candidate Amanatullah Khan, Delhi Police has given a big statement. Delhi Police said in a statement that on the night of February 4, at around 1 o’clock, our team was on patrol in the Jamia Nagar police station area. While patrolling in Toba Colony of Zakir Nagar, the police saw that the AAP candidate was engaged in an election campaign with 100 supporters. This is a violation of MCC (Model Code of Conduct). Therefore, a case has been registered against him.

Votes are being cast on 70 seats.

Voting is going on in all 70 seats of Delhi since 7 am. The fate of 699 candidates on all these seats will be decided in EVMs. The election results will come after three days on February 8. No party has left any stone unturned in campaigning.
