Ration Card: The Indian government was already offering ration support to the underprivileged; now, it can also provide one thousand rupees each month in addition to rations, published in media reports. New regulations regarding ration cards will take effect from the very first day of the new year.

e-KYC process is actively underway

To achieve this, the e-KYC process is actively underway. In fact, this new initiative is being launched under the National Food Security Act, which seeks to enhance the financial situation of impoverished and needy households in the nation. For all ration card holders to take advantage of this scheme, completing their e-KYC (Electronic Know Your Customer) will be compulsory. Without this, nobody will receive funds.

Timeline of this initiative

The timeline for this arrangement runs from 1 January 2025 to 31 December 2028. The overall spending on this initiative is approximately Rs 11.8 lakh crore, intended to benefit 80 crore individuals in the country. The application procedure is conducted through both online and offline methods. e-KYC validates the identities of ration card holders. This is a crucial measure to eradicate fraudulent ration cards.

e-KYC process

To complete e-KYC, bring your Aadhar card and ration card to the ration store. Next, confirm your identity by positioning your thumb on the POS device. Once the process is finished, verify with the ration dealer. To perform e-KYC online, visit the website of your state’s Food and Civil Supplies Department and select the e-KYC or amendment option. Once you have entered the ration card number and other essential details, proceed to upload the needed documents. Once all the information has been verified and submitted, the e-KYC process is finished.
