Good news for school students. In Rajasthan, several districts have announced school closures due to extreme cold and other local factors. Schools in Jaipur, Kota, and Ajmer will be closed starting January 7. The closures in Jaipur and Kota are due to the chilly weather, while Ajmer’s schools will shut down for the Urs celebration. In Jaipur, all schools for grades 1 to 8 will be closed on January 7 and 8, while in Kota, schools for the same grades will remain closed from January 7 to 9. Ajmer’s schools will also be closed on January 7 for the Urs event. Despite the closures, teachers and staff are required to report to school.

The decision was made by the District Collector in Jaipur, following the Meteorological Department’s weather predictions. This measure aims to safeguard children from the worsening cold and cold wave conditions. The holiday applies solely to students, as specified in the order, which states that staff members will still be expected to attend school.

In Kota, the district collector has mandated school closures from January 7 to 9 due to the severe cold, affecting both government and private institutions. The Meteorological Department has issued a cold wave alert for the upcoming days, and staff will also need to be present at school.

In Ajmer, schools will remain closed on January 7 for the 813th Urs of Khwaja Gharib Nawaz, as decided by the local authorities. Schools in these three districts of Rajasthan are closing for various reasons: the cold poses a risk to children in Jaipur and Kota, while Ajmer’s closures are due to the expected large crowds during the Urs. Nonetheless, teachers and staff are required to attend school in all locations.
