Toll Tax: Big news personal vehicle owners. Traveling on the highway through Lucknow is set to get pricier starting April 1. The NHAI has announced a toll tax hike that will kick in at midnight on March 31. Light vehicles will see an increase of 5 to 10 rupees, while heavy vehicles will face a rise of 20 to 25 rupees. These new rates will apply at several toll plazas along the Lucknow-Kanpur, Ayodhya, Raebareli, and Barabanki highways.
If you’re using the Delhi-Meerut Expressway, Eastern Peripheral, or NH-9, expect to pay more in tolls as well. For instance, the one-way toll for cars and jeeps traveling from Sarai Kale Khan to Meerut has gone up from Rs 165 to Rs 170. Light commercial vehicles will now be charged Rs 275, and trucks will cost Rs 580. This is the second toll increase in less than a year, following a hike in June 2024.
At the Chhijarsi toll plaza on NH-9, the toll for cars has risen to Rs 175 from Rs 170. Light commercial vehicles will now pay Rs 280, while buses and trucks will be charged Rs 590. Additionally, the toll for goods vehicles with more than seven axles has increased by a maximum of Rs 590. Until March 31, tolls will still be collected at the old rates. The toll from Ghaziabad to Meerut is also set to rise from Rs 70 to Rs 75.
On the Delhi-Jaipur highway, toll rates are going up. The NHAI has announced new charges at the Kherki Daula toll plaza. While the toll for cars and jeeps remains unchanged, larger vehicles will see an increase of Rs 5. This extra charge will apply to every trip you make.
At Kherki Daula, the 24-hour rule doesn’t apply, meaning if you return within a day, you’ll still pay the same toll as when you left. So, for a round trip, expect to pay an additional Rs 10.
Additionally, the monthly pass for the Kherki Daula toll has increased by Rs 20, now costing Rs 950 instead of Rs 930. For commercial vehicles, the toll will be Rs 85 each way, and their monthly pass will rise to Rs 1255 from Rs 1225. For LMVs and mini buses, the single journey toll is now Rs 125, up from Rs 120.
