DA Hike, Uttar Pradesh: On Thursday, the Uttar Pradesh state government mandated providing dearness allowance to employees under the Fifth and Sixth Pay Commission. Aside from staff members, teachers and other workers fall within its jurisdiction. The state government had declared that government employees would receive a dearness allowance before Diwali. A 12 percent raise in dearness allowance has been approved for workers in the fifth pay scale.

The sixth pay scale’s dearness allowance has been raised by 7 percent. The state government had declared a raise in the dearness allowance for state employees during Diwali. The employees will receive the advantage starting on July 1, 2024. An order from the government was issued by Additional Chief Secretary Deepak Kumar.

Who will recieve higher DA, starting from July 1, 2024?

State employees, as well as permanent employees of assisted educational institutions, technical educational institutions, urban bodies, and employees under UGC pay scales, who have not received a salary increase since 2006 and are on the fifth pay scale, will receive a higher dearness allowance starting on July 1, 2024.

Dearness Allowance rate has risen from 239 percent to 246 percent

Currently, they are receiving a 44.3 percent Dearness Allowance. The suggested percentage stands at 4.55. In other words, there has been a 12 percent increase. A 7 percent increase in dearness allowance has been granted to employees in the sixth pay scale, who have not received a revision since 2016. Currently, the Dearness Allowance rate has risen from 239 percent to 246 percent.

What media reports said before?

This information came a week after a report came out quoting employee unions in which it was said that the Union Cabinet is going to announce a 3% increase in dearness relief along with dearness allowance. However, after the cabinet meeting on October 9, the increase in dearness allowance was expected. It is reported that under this latest increase, the Dearness Allowance will be increased from 50% to 53% of the basic pay. This increase will be implemented from July 2024. Along with dearness allowance, the half-yearly revision in dearness relief is going to affect about one crore employees and pensioners.
