Weather Update: The rainy season is ongoing across the country. The continuous heavy rains have created flood-like conditions in most of the country. The Meteorological Department has issued an alert in view of heavy rains in Odisha, coastal Andhra Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Vidarbha and Telangana during the next 3 days due to the low pressure area formed over the Bay of Bengal.

The heavy rains in Gujarat are severely affecting the lives of people there. The deep pressure in Gujarat has turned into “cyclonic storm Asna”. However, ‘Asna’ is moving towards Oman in the Arabian Sea without causing any major impact on the area.

The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) predicts light to moderate rains in West and Central India this week. The Meteorological Department has issued an alert regarding heavy rains in Vidarbha on September 1 and 2, and in Chhattisgarh on August 31 and September 1.

Heavy rains are expected in eastern Madhya Pradesh on September 2, and in Gujarat region during September 2 to 4.

The IMD predicts heavy rains in parts of Navsari and Valsad on Sunday. Heavy to very heavy rains are expected in Vadodara and Chhota Udaipur on Monday, heavy rains are expected in Anand, Panchmahal, Dahod, Bharuch, Bhavnagar and Narmada on Tuesday.

Near the Kutch coast, the deep depression hovering over Gujarat has transformed into a cyclonic storm known as ‘Asana,’ moving towards the west-northwest at a speed of 6 km per hour. IMD predicts that the storm will depart from India within the next two days.

There will be rain in these states

According to the Meteorological Department, light rain is expected this week in Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, East Rajasthan in North-West India. An alert has been issued for sporadic rainfall in Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, Punjab, Western Rajasthan during this week.

Apart from this, sporadic rainfall is expected in Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh till September 3. Similar weather can be seen in Himachal Pradesh, Punjab and Haryana on September 2. Eastern Rajasthan can record rain from September 1 to 5. Rain can occur in western Rajasthan on September 4.

The Meteorological Department predicts heavy rain in Vidarbha on September 1 and 2, and in Chhattisgarh on August 31 and September 1.
