Weather Update: Winter’s wrath is in full swing in most of the country. Snowfall in the mountains has dropped the temperature significantly. Dense fog may prevail in Delhi.

The IMD has predicted that rain may be seen in the Himalayan region in the coming week and the plains of North-West India from January 4 to January 5, 2025. Dense fog and colNorthwestditions will persist in some parts of North-West India for the next 24 hours. The Indian Meteorological Department issued an alert regarding rain and snowfall in many states.

Snowfall and rain warning

According to the Meteorological Department, a new western disturbance may affect North-West India starting on January 5. Under its influence, light will spread northwest, likely in the west Himalayan region, from January 1 to January 3. Light rain can be seen in the plains of North-West India from 4 to January 6. An alert was sent northwest regarding snowfall in Jammu and Kashmir, Muzaffarabad, Gilgit and Baltistan on January 5.

Delhi/NCR Weather Update

The Meteorological Department has predicted clear skies in Delhi/NCR areas on Wednesday. Surface winds are expected to blow from the northwest at fewer than 8 kilometres per hour. Smnorthwestght fog is likely to prevail in most areas.

Cold wave in Kashmir

Due to snowfall in Kashmir, tourists have also increased significantly. The Meteorological Department has warned of further snowfall, which may cause the temperature to go into a minus. In some places, the temperature is running below the freezing point. Due to the Western Disturbance from 1 to January 2, snowfall is expected in many locations. Moderate to heavy snowfall is expected due to its effect from 3 to January 6.

According to the Meteorological Department, severe cold may occur on January 1 in Arunachal Pradesh, Mizoram, Nagaland, Manipur, Meghalaya, and Tripura.
