The Ministry of Education has extended the last date to apply for the National Means–Merit Scholarship Scheme (NMMSS) for the academic year 2024-2025 through the National Scholarship Portal (NSP). Students who meet the eligibility requirements can apply online by visiting the official website scholarships.gov.in/student. What is NSP Scholarship?

NSP or National Scholarship Portal is an online portal created by the Government of India for the application, processing, verification, and approval of government scholarships to students. Its main objective is to make the scholarship disbursement process transparent and efficient so that all eligible students can get scholarships on time. Through this portal, the applicant can apply online for various types of scholarship schemes, including merit based, means-based, minorities. The scholarship covers Minority Students’ Degree (PG-M), Post-matric, Pre-matric, Central Sector and State-specific scholarships.

 

What is the eligibility for NSP Scholarship?

 

To avail of the scholarships offered by the central/state government, students must meet the following eligibility criteria, including their financial status, educational background, and other factors. Some of these criteria are given below:

 

Annual income: The annual household income from all sources cannot exceed Rs 2,50,000 (this may vary from plan to plan).

 

Being an Indian citizen: You must be an Indian citizen.

 

Enrolled in a recognized institution: You must be enrolled in a recognized Indian educational institution.

 

Income limit: Your family income must be less than the income limit set for the scholarship scheme.

 

Educational Qualification: You must fulfill the educational qualification prescribed for the scholarship scheme.

 

Students must pass the final exam.

Valid caste certificate.

 

Aadhaar Card: The student must have an Aadhaar card.

 

How to apply for NSP Scholarship 2024

 

1. Students interested in NSP scholarship programs can apply on the official website of NSP Scholarship- scholarships.gov.in.

 

2. On the homepage, you will find the ‘Student’ option on the left and click on it.

 

3. Now, click on the displayed “OTR (One Time Registration)” option and register yourself for OTR if you are a new user. Otherwise, login by providing the asked details.

 

4. After clicking on the Register Yourself option, your system screen will be redirected to the NSP OTR Registration Form 2024-25.

 

5. The OTR registration process is categorized into four stages: Guidelines, Register Mobile Number, eKYC, Finish.

 

6. Read the guidelines and instructions carefully and accept them in order to proceed. Now, register with your mobile number and proceed to the next step.

 

7. The next step is eKYC by providing the applicant’s name, date of birth, mobile number, email id, place of residence, category, etc. details. Complete the OTR eKYC and finish the online registration process once.

 

8. Now, go back to the home page and login with the required details such as OTR ID and password to complete the NSP Scholarship Registration 2024-25. After successfully login please apply for the scholarship scheme and fill in the required details including bank account and others. Also, upload the scanned documents in PDF or JPEG format in the correct size. Verify the entered details and submit the details for the National Scholarship Portal 2024-25.
