But with this new Book Now, Pay Later facility, this problem can be solved. Even if you don’t have money at the moment, you can still book your train ticket.

How Does This Scheme Work?

Under this scheme, you don’t need to pay while booking the ticket. You get a few days to make the payment. Just like a credit card allows you to spend first and pay later, this scheme offers a similar facility to railway passengers.

How to Use This Scheme?

The Book Now, Pay Later scheme is helpful for passengers who do not have money at the time of booking train tickets. However, this facility is available only for online ticket bookings. You can use this option only when booking tickets through the IRCTC app or IRCTC website.

  • When you book a ticket under this scheme, you must pay for it within 14 days.
  • If you make the payment within this period, the Railways will not charge you any extra fees.
  • However, if you fail to pay within 14 days, a 3.5% service charge will be applied.

Steps to Use the Book Now, Pay Later Scheme

To avail of this facility, follow these steps:

  1. Login to the Indian Railways website or mobile app.
  2. While booking your ticket online, select the “Book Now, Pay Later” option.
  3. To use the “Pay Later” option, register at www.epaylater.in.
  4. After registration, you will see the “Pay Later” option during booking. Choose this option to book your ticket without advance payment.
  5. A payment link will be sent to your registered email ID and mobile number.
  6. To avoid the 3.5% service charge, complete the payment within 14 days of booking the ticket.
