Defeat for DC
DC was not able to utilise their plans properly to win the title by defeating the opponent team. From the first season of the IPL (IPL 2008) to the previous (IPL 2024), Delhi Capitals reached the final on only one occasion. The Delhi Capitals, who parted ways with their last-season skipper Rishabh Pant, need to find someone who can drive the team to glory. Rishabh Pant is not only the captain; his worldclass wicketkeeping abilities and fearless batting skills are always a threat to any opponent.
Who will fill Rishab Pant’s shoes?
DC has to choose someone who can fill the shoes left by Rishabh Pant. It is heavily reported that Delhi Capitals may have some connection with Shreyas Iyer, the former Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) captain. Iyer also said Kolkata ‘good bye’. Shreyas Iyer was the captain of the Delhi Capitals in 2020-21, when DC reached the final. Iyer himself scored unbeaten 65 runs on 50 balls. Delhi Capitals has retained only four players: Axar Patel, Kuldeep Yadav, Tristan Stubbs, and Abhishek Porel.
Both parties’ need to prove
They will try to snatch a reliable Indian wicketkeeper-batsman from the mega auction. Ishan Kishan, released by the Mumbai Indians, will try his luck in the mega auction. Ishan recently indicated that he wants to get back into the national team by playing some good cricket. He has to prove himself first to get back his team India spot. And the Delhi Capitals need to prove that they also deserve the Indian Premier League trophy.
