According to the order of the Transport Department, now the last date for getting high-security number plates installed on old vehicles has been extended to 10 August.
That is, by getting registered for the HSRP number plate by 10 August, you can avoid challan, even if the plate is not installed yet.

Why is a high-security number plate necessary
The government has made it mandatory to install high-security number plates on vehicles purchased before 1 April 2019. This is because it was easy to tamper with the earlier number plates. They could be easily removed and replaced, which made it difficult to track the vehicle if stolen.
The high-security number plate is made of aluminum. It is installed with the help of a snap-on-lock used at least once at the front and rear of the vehicle. It cannot be removed easily and even after removal, another number plate cannot be installed.
