PM Matra Vandana Yojna: An important scheme launched by the Government of India to provide financial assistance to pregnant women and mothers. This scheme targets women who are expecting their first child. The main objective of this scheme is to provide financial assistance to women during pregnancy and delivery, so that they can take care of their nutrition and take care of their child.
Under this scheme, eligible beneficiaries are given a cash amount of ₹5000 in three installments. This amount is provided to compensate for the loss of income during pregnancy and to improve maternal health. PMMVY is implemented through Anganwadi centers and government health facilities. The scheme came into effect from January 1, 2017 and aims to simplify maternity benefit programs and reach as many women as possible.
