TATA Punch: TATA Motors was the third best-selling automaker in September 2024. The company has registered a 14 percent year-on-year growth in sales in September 2024, growing to 50,105 units from 44,047 units sold in September 2023. The company’s wide range of options as well as its electric vehicle lineup helped drive these sales. However, month-on-month sales have declined marginally by 2% as compared to 51,270 units sold in September 2024.

TATA Punch best-selling car

The Tata Punch was not only the best-selling car in the Tata portfolio last month, but it was the best-selling car in India, surpassing the Hyundai Creta and Maruti WagonR by significant numbers. Apart from the Punch, Tata also had the Tiago and the Altroz in the top 25 list of cars sold in September 2024.

The Punch has seen a 61 percent year-on-year growth in sales but a 5 percent month-on-month decline with 17,547 units sold. 10,894 units were sold in September 2023 and 18,438 units in September 2024. In September 2024, Tata Motors added new variants to the Punch while some were discontinued. Earlier this year, Tata launched the new Punch EV priced between Rs 10.99 lakh and Rs 14.49 lakh (ex-showroom).

TATA Nexon ranked second

TATA Nexon was at the second spot, with sales declining to 14,058 units in September 2024. Sales in September 2023 were 14,769 units, while in September 2024 the company sold 14,395 units. A total of 6,381 units of Tata Tiago were sold last month. This was a decline of 13 percent year-on-year and 8 percent month-on-month.

Demand for TATA Altroz increased

September 2024 saw huge demand for the Tata Altroz, with sales reaching 5,985 units, a 55 percent year-on-year increase from 3,862 units sold in September 2023. Month-on-month sales also grew 31 percent as compared to 4,568 units sold in September 2024. What makes the Tata Altroz premium hatchback attractive to buyers is the fact that it has achieved a 5-star crash rating.

It is also among the most affordable vehicles to have a sunroof, while it is the only hatchback in the country that has the option of petrol, diesel and CNG. It competes with Maruti Baleno and Hyundai i20 in its segment.

Harrier

Harrier was followed by Safari, whose sales declined by 20 per cent year-on-year and month-on-month to 2,054 units, while Tigor sales also declined by 25 per cent to 2,017 units from 2,705 units sold in September 2023. However, month-on-month sales have increased by 18 per cent as compared to 1,712 units sold in September 2024.
