Monsoon havoc: Monsoon is wreaking havoc in Himachal Pradesh this time too. Like last year, this year too the monsoon has refreshed the wounds of the people of the state.
Heavy rains have been seen in many parts of the state. Floods and landslides have devastated families. The figures of the State Emergency Operations Center are even more shocking.
Devastation
According to the report of the State Emergency Operations Center, 47 incidents of flash floods, landslides, and cloudbursts have been recorded in the state in the last 37 days of the monsoon season.
Flash floods at 22 places in the state, landslides at 17 places, and cloudbursts at 8 places wreaked havoc. In these, 10 people lost their lives and 46 people went missing. Four people have been injured.
Everything was swept away
According to the Emergency Operations Center, 120 houses were damaged in different incidents of cloudburst, out of which 64 houses were destroyed while 37 houses were partially damaged.
Flash floods destroyed 18 houses and landslides destroyed one house. 14 shops were also swept away due to flash floods, landslides and cloudbursts. 24 cattle sheds were also destroyed and 54 cattle died.
Most devastation in Shimla, Mandi, and Kullu
Most cloudburst incidents occurred in Shimla, Mandi, and Kullu districts. On the night of July 31, 10 people died and 45 people were missing due to cloudburst in these three districts.
There is no hope of finding them alive. Cloudburst destroyed Samij village of Rampur subdivision of Shimla district. 36 people are missing in the accident.
No trace of missing people
The search for 36 people missing after the cloudburst incident in Sameez, Shimla continued for the fourth consecutive day on Sunday. No trace of the missing people was found even on the third day of the search.
In such a situation, the help of a live detector device and sniffer dog is being taken in the search operation. NDRF, SDRF, Police, ITBP, and Home Guard personnel are engaged in the search operation in an area of about 85 kilometers.
Home Guard Commandant RP Nepta said that a review meeting was held last evening. In which all the rescue teams have been given different tasks.
Yesterday there was some difficulty in crossing the river while building the bridge, but today Bailey bridges are being built. There is a possibility of more bodies being found on the fourth day of the search operation.
Heavy rain warning for the next four days, yellow alert issued
People have heaved a sigh of relief due to the decrease in heavy rains in the state in the last 24 hours. 19 mm of rain was recorded in Barthin of Bilaspur and 14 mm in Kangra headquarters Dharamshala.
Apart from this, 9 mm of rain was recorded in Kangra and Kukumseri and 6 mm in Manali. Most parts of the state including the capital Shimla have been cloudy since this morning.
The Meteorological Department Shimla has predicted bad weather in the state till August 10. A yellow alert has been issued for heavy rain in the plains and mid-mountain areas of the state till August 8.
The Meteorological Department has instructed people and tourists to maintain distance from rivers and drains and not to go to landslide areas.
