For us Indians, our thali is incomplete without papad, isn’t it? Be it dal-rice or sabzi-roti, the fun of eating is incomplete without a crispy papad. The taste of papad is so special that it not only makes a side dish, but you can also make many great dishes with it in a jiffy.

So the next time you feel like eating something spicy, or you are short of time in the kitchen – try these 3 super tasty and quick papad recipes.

1. Papad Raita – Cool, Spicy and Crispy Twist

Ingredients:

Curd (well whipped): 500 grams

Roasted masala papad: 3

Roasted cumin powder: ½ teaspoon

Black pepper powder: ½ teaspoon

Chopped coriander leaves: 4 teaspoons

Salt: according to taste

How to make:

First of all, whisk the curd well so that it becomes very creamy.

Now add cumin powder, black pepper and coriander leaves to it.

Keep this curd in the fridge to cool.

Just before serving, add salt to it and break the roasted masala papad into small pieces and mix it.

Serve fresh otherwise the papad may become soft.

Tip: After adding papad to the raita, do not keep it for long, otherwise its crispness will go away.

2. Papad Chaat – Healthy Snack With A Spicy Twist
Ingredients:

Roasted Papad: 4

Roasted Peanuts: ½ cup

Roasted Cashews: ½ cup

Onions (finely chopped): 1 cup

Tomatoes (finely chopped): 1 cup

Cucumber (chopped): 1 cup

Boiled Potatoes (chopped): 1 cup

Lemon Juice: 2 tsp

Chaat Masala: 2 tsp

Green Chillies (finely chopped): 2

Coriander Leaves: 4 tsp

Salt: to taste

How to make:

In a large bowl, mix all the ingredients except papad.

Add lemon juice and chaat masala and mix well.

Finally, break the roasted papad into pieces and add it.

Serve immediately so that the papad remains crunchy.

Tip: If you want to serve it a little later, keep the papads aside and mix before serving.

3. Papad ki Sabzi – When you run out of vegetables at home and are hungry

Ingredients:

Ghee: 1 tsp

Cumin seeds: ½ tsp

Asafoetida: 1 pinch

Ginger (finely chopped): 1 tsp

Green chilli (finely chopped): 1

Garlic cloves: 4

Kasuri methi: 1 tsp

Tomatoes: 2 (make a puree)

Turmeric powder: ¼ tsp

Red chilli powder: ½ tsp

Coriander powder: ½ tsp

Whisked curd: ½ cup

Papads: 3 (roasted and broken)

Salt: to taste

Coriander leaves: for garnishing

How to make:

Pre-roast the papads and break them into small pieces.

Grind ginger, garlic and green chillies.

Heat ghee in a pan, add cumin seeds, asafoetida.

Now add ginger-garlic mix and tomato puree.

Add turmeric, chilli powder, coriander powder and saute the spices.

Now add curd and salt and mix well.

When the gravy thickens, add papad and cook on low flame for 2-3 minutes.

Garnish with dried fenugreek leaves and green coriander.

Tip: This curry will go well with roti or paratha – and will surprise the guests too!
