Ingredients:
250 grams onion
1 bowl gram flour
2 teaspoons semolina
2 teaspoons cornflour
1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
1/2 teaspoon red chili powder
1/2 teaspoon chaat masala
1/2 teaspoon ginger-garlic paste
Finely chopped coriander leaves
Salt to taste
Oil for frying
Method of preparation:
Prepare the onions: Peel them and cut them into thin, long pieces. Add some turmeric and salt to it, mix well and leave it for 5 minutes. This will release water on the onions.
Make the batter: Mix gram flour, semolina, cornflour, red chilli powder, chaat masala, ginger-garlic paste, and coriander leaves in a large vessel. Add water little by little to make a thick batter.
Fry the pakoras: Heat oil in a pan. Dip the onion pieces in the batter and add them to the hot oil. Fry on medium flame till they turn golden.
Serve: Remove the fried pakoras on tissue paper to drain the excess oil. Serve hot pakoras with tea or chutney.
Tips:
You can fry pakoras twice to make them crispier.
Do not make the batter too thin; otherwise, the pakoras will not turn crispy.
If you like spicy food, you can also add green chillies.
