Poha Recipe: Poha is a popular and nutritious snack from India, which can be prepared easily and in a short time. A dash of spices, the crunch of peanuts and the aroma of coriander give this breakfast made with flattened rice a great flavour. It is loved by people of all ages and is very popular, especially in central India.
Material (for 4 people)
200 grams of poha (flattened rice)
1 medium onion (finely chopped)
1-2 green chillies (finely chopped)
10-12 curry leaves
1/4 tsp turmeric powder
1/2 tsp red chilli powder
1/4 cup roasted peanuts
1 tablespoon lime juice
2 tablespoons cooking oil
1 tablespoon of mustard seeds
2 tablespoons chopped coriander
Salt to taste
Method of preparation
1. Prepare the batter.
Wash the poha in a bowl with water and drain the excess water. Set it aside to soften for 10 minutes.
2. Take a shower
Heat 2 tablespoons of oil in a pan. Add mustard seeds and saute till it splutters.
3. Cook the vegetables.
Now add finely chopped onion, green chillies and curry leaves to it. Cook until onions are translucent and translucent.
4. Add spices.
Add turmeric powder, red chilli powder and salt to the pan. Mix them well and cook for 1 minute.
5. Mix curd
Now put the soft poha in the pan and mix the spices evenly. Run it slowly so that the poha doesn’t break.
6. Cook and strain
Cover the pan and cook on low heat for 5 minutes. Keep stirring it in between so that it doesn’t burn. Now add the roasted peanuts and lemon juice. Mix well.
7. Serve
Garnish with fresh coriander and serve hot.
Tips:
Do not leave much water after washing the poha, otherwise it may become sticky.
You can also add a little sugar or grated coconut to enhance the taste.
Serve with curd or chutney.
