These ingredients will be needed to make moong dal halwa:

Yellow moong dal: one to two cups

Milk: one to two cups

Saffron: a pinch

Cardamom powder: half a teaspoon

Almond flakes: half a tablespoon

Ghee: two tablespoons

Sugar: one cup

An easy method to make moong dal

To make moong dal halwa, first wash the lentils thoroughly. After washing, soak the lentils in water for about three to four hours. After this stipulated time, put the lentils in a sieve and drain all the water. Now, grind the lentils coarsely, take a mixer, and keep them aside in a vessel. Now, take some lukewarm milk in a bowl, add a pinch of saffron, mix it well with a spoon, and then keep it aside.

Now you have to take a pan, put ghee in it, and let it heat on medium flame. Now, as soon as the ghee melts, you must add the coarse ground paste of moong dal and fry it. Keep frying it till it turns brown. The lentils may take about 25 – 30 minutes to cook well. Remember that during this time, you must keep stirring the lentils.

When the lentils are cooked well, add one cup of milk and water and mix well. After this, cook the dal on a medium flame for about 7-8 minutes while stirring. After this, add sugar to the dal, milk, and saffron powder and stir well.

Mix all these ingredients well with the help of a spoon. After this, let the moong dal halwa cook well for five to seven minutes. After this, turn off the gas. Here, the delicious moong dal halwa is ready. Now garnish it by adding small pieces of almonds. Then eat it hot.
