Fish holds a special place for Bengali food lovers. The tempering of mustard oil and panchphoran in the fish curry here gives it a different taste. So, let’s know how to make this delicious recipe.

Ingredients:

500 grams of Rohu or Katla fish

2 tablespoons mustard oil

1 teaspoon turmeric powder

1 teaspoon red chilli powder

1 teaspoon cumin powder

2 tablespoons mustard paste

1 tomato, finely chopped

2-3 green chilies

1 teaspoon panchphoran

1/2 teaspoon garam masala

1/2 teaspoon ginger-garlic paste

Salt to taste

Coriander leaves, finely chopped

Method of preparation:

First, turmeric, salt, and red chilli powder should be applied to the fish pieces and kept aside for 15 minutes.

Heat mustard oil in a pan and fry the fishuntils golden. Remove the fried fish and keep it aside.

Add some more oil to the pan and add panchphoran tadka. Then add chopped onion and fry till it turns golden.

Now add ginger-garlic paste and fry for 1 minute. Then add tomatoes, turmeric, chilli powder, cumin powder and mustard paste and fry till the spices leave the oil.

Add some water and let it cook for 2-3 minutes. Add the fried fish to the gravy and cook on low flame for 5 minutes to absorb the spices well into the fish.

Serve hot Bengali fish curry with boiled rice or luchi (puri). Garnish with coriander leaves on top.
