Falahari Khichdi Making Tips: During the nine days of Navratri, spending the day eating fruits becomes a bit difficult. Especially when the energy is low and you don’t feel like cooking anything. In such a situation, Sama rice khichdi is a great option. It is not only prepared quickly, but it also tastes fantastic. So let’s know the easy way to make it.
Ingredients:
One cup of Sama rice
One to two potatoes, cut into small pieces
One teaspoon of cumin seeds
Half teaspoon black pepper powder
One teaspoon ginger-green chilli paste (or finely chopped ginger and green chilli)
Two tablespoons desi ghee or peanut oil
Rock salt to taste
Finely chopped coriander leaves
Some green chilli pieces
Lemon juice
Method of preparation:
Prepare the rice:
Clean the Sama rice and wash it thoroughly with water.
Then soak them in water for an hour.
Add the tadka:
Heat desi ghee or peanut oil in a cooker or heavy bottom vessel.
Add cumin seeds and fry, then add ginger-green chilli paste or finely chopped ginger and green chillies.
Add black pepper powder and fry for a few seconds.
Saute vegetables:
Add potato pieces and fry. You can also add carrots or any vegetarian vegetable of your choice.
Make Khichdi:
Drain the water from the soaked Sama rice and put it in the cooker.
Fry for two minutes and add rock salt.
Add water as you choose (3 cups for wet khichdi, and 2 cups for fluffy grains).
Cover the cooker and cook till one whistle, or cover and cook on low flame.
Give the perfect taste:
Add finely chopped coriander leaves, green chilli pieces, and lemon juice when the khichdi is cooked.
Add desi ghee and serve hot.
