Let’s see what ingredients we need to make fare:

One cup of rice flour

Half a cup of gram dal

Half a cup of urad dal

Two onions

Two tomatoes

Green chilies

4 garlic cloves

1-inch piece of ginger

Half a teaspoon of black pepper powder

Half a teaspoon of cumin powder

Two to three teaspoons of desi ghee

Two pinches of asafoetida

Half a teaspoon of mustard seeds

Salt as per taste

Method of making fare :

First of all, wash the gram dal and urad dal thoroughly and soak them in water for 5 to 6 hours. To make rice farre, take one cup of hot water in a vessel, add two teaspoons of ghee and one teaspoon of salt, and let it boil.

After that, add rice flour to it and let it swell for some time. When the rice flour cools down, mix it well with your hands and prepare a soft dough.

Grind the pre-soaked gram dal and urad dal coarsely. Heat a pan on medium flame, and add two spoons of ghee in the pan. Add asafoetida tadka and fry finely chopped onion, chopped ginger, garlic, and chopped green chilies. Take it out on a plate and keep it aside to cool.

Make small balls of the rice flour dough by applying ghee on your hands. Fill the lentil filling inside and close it. You can give it your desired shape with light hands.

When all your pharas are ready, steam them well. Steamed favas taste even better. If you want, you can also deep fry them. Your delicious faras are ready. Serve them with any spicy coriander chutney.
