Ingredients required to make Rajma Kofta:
One bowl of kidney beans
Half bowl of gram flour
One teaspoon turmeric powder
One teaspoon coriander powder
One teaspoon red chili powder
One teaspoon rajma masala (or garam masala)
One bowl of ground onion (fine paste)
One bowl of ground tomato (fine paste)
Two teaspoons ginger-garlic paste
One teaspoon poppy seeds
Two tablespoons cream
Finely chopped coriander leaves
Salt to taste
Method to make Rajma Kofta:
Prepare the rajma: First of all, soak the rajma in water overnight. The next morning, boil it in a cooker or pan for 10-15 minutes until it becomes soft.
Kofta mixture: Grind boiled rajma in a mixer to make a fine paste. Grind poppy seeds with some water to make a paste. Add poppy seeds paste, half a teaspoon of turmeric, half a teaspoon of salt and gram flour to the rajma paste and mix well.
Make koftas and fry: Make small round koftas with this mixture. Heat oil in a pan and deep fry the koftas till they turn golden. Take out the fried koftas in a plate.
Make gravy: Add some more oil in the pan. Add cumin seeds and bay leaves and temper. When the cumin seeds start crackling, add ground onion, tomato and ginger-garlic paste and fry for 3-4 minutes, until the onion-tomato is well fried and starts releasing oil.
Spices and cream: Now add turmeric powder, coriander powder, red chili powder and rajma masala (or garam masala) and fry for 2-3 minutes. Then add two teaspoons of cream and mix well.
Koftas and boil: Add the fried koftas to the gravy. Add salt to taste and mix. Bring to a boil for 2-3 times and then turn off the gas.
Serve: Your delicious Rajma Kofta is ready! Finally, add finely chopped coriander leaves and serve hot.
