First lacklustre batting performance and now injury problem. We are talking about Rishabh Pant’s injury; he’s out from day three, with Dhruv Jurel taking his place behind the wicket. BCCI gave an update regarding Rishabh. No need to say that update is not going to make his fans happy.
On day two in Bengaluru against New Zealand in the first test match of the ongoing series, Rishabh Pant hurt his knee when the ball directly collided with his knee. The same knee, which got badly injured during the car accident. So it is very clear that BCCI does not want to take any risk about Pant’s injury.
The medical team of the Board of Control for Cricket in India is keeping an eye on his injury. The board informed shortly before the start of the third day’s play on Friday that he will not going to participate in today’s match.
During the fielding of the India on Thursday, in the 37th over of New Zealand’s innings, a ball from Ravindra Jadeja went straight to his knee, after which he was seen in a lot of pain. Pant came out limping from the field and Dhruv Jurel took over the wicketkeeping duties for the rest of the overs. As per reports, there is swelling on his knee and the medical team has advised him rest for the time being as a precaution. Pant has suffered this injury on the same knee, which he suffered during a car accident in December 2022, about 2 years ago. Pant had to undergo surgery to treat this. He was able to return to international cricket after about 18 months due to serious injuries in this car accident.
UPDATE: Mr Rishabh Pant will not keep wickets on Day 3.
The BCCI Medical Team is monitoring his progress.

“Mr Rishabh Pant will not keep wickets on Day 3. The BCCI Medical Team is monitoring his progress,” BCCI in the update on X (previously Twitter) wrote.
Rohit said on Thursday, “Unfortunately, the knee. The ball went and hit straight on his knee cap, the leg which he had surgery on. So, he has got a little bit of swelling on it. The muscles are bit tender at this point of time. It’s a precautionary measure.”
