New Delhi: In this thrilling match, Lucknow Super Giants batted first and scored 203 runs. In response, Mumbai could only manage 191 runs in a nail-biting contest that went down to the final over. Although Suryakumar Yadav scored a fifty for Mumbai, half-centuries from Mitchell Marsh and Aiden Markram proved to be more impactful.

A Thrilling Encounter Between Lucknow and Mumbai

Mumbai Indians came into this match after an 8-wicket win in their previous game. However, this time Lucknow set them a daunting target of 204 runs. While chasing, MI had a disastrous start. With Rohit Sharma sitting out due to a knee injury, Will Jacks and Ryan Rickelton opened the innings. But by the time the score reached 17, both openers were back in the pavilion—Jacks scoring 5 and Rickelton 10.

Suryakumar Yadav and Naman Dhir then built a strong partnership for Mumbai. The duo added an important 69 runs. Naman Dhir scored a quickfire 46 off 24 balls, while Surya played a classy innings of 67 off 43 deliveries. At one point, MI needed just 61 runs from the final 5 overs, and with Surya well-set at the crease, the win looked within reach. However, Surya was dismissed for 67, and that changed the momentum.

Shardul Thakur’s Over Turned the Game

In the final two overs, Mumbai Indians needed 29 runs to win, with Hardik Pandya and Tilak Varma at the crease. Given their presence, the target seemed very achievable. But as they say, the 19th over can either make or break a game. Shardul Thakur bowled that crucial over for LSG and turned the game on its head by conceding just 7 runs. This left Avesh Khan with 21 runs to defend in the final over. Though the first ball of the over went for a six, Avesh bounced back brilliantly on the following deliveries and sealed a 12-run victory for Lucknow.
