Team India recently touched a milestone in the third T20I match against Bangladesh. Team India had scored 297 for 6 in Hyderabad thanks to Sanju Samsam’s blazing century. The Indian team could not break the record of the biggest score in T20I cricket history but made the second highest total of 20 overs cricket. Now another team has something humongous in T20 international. This team has created a new record by reaching close to the score of India in T20I cricket.

Even though this team could not touch the 300-run mark like Team India, but made the third highest score of T20I cricket. This team, which created a new history in the shortest format of cricket, is not a novice team but a well-known team in the world cricket. We are talking about the Zimbabwe, who put 286 runs on the scoreboard in the second match of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup Africa Sub Regional Qualifier B 2024. Zimbabwe scored this huge score by losing 5 wickets and overtook Afghanistan in T20I cricket to make the record of third highest score of T20I.

Team Zimbabwe, who came out to bat first after losing the toss, gave the opening pair of Brian Bennett and Tadiwanashe Marumani a strong start. Both added 145 runs in just 9.4 overs for the first wicket. Bennett scored 91 off 35 balls, Marumani scored 86 runs off 37 balls. After this, the middle order batsmen along with captain Sikandar Raza (36 runs off 13 balls) scored fast runs to take the team to a score of 286 in 20 overs.

Nepal holds the world record for scoring the most runs in an innings in T20 cricket. He scored 314 runs in 20 overs against Mongolia during the Asian Games in 2023. Nepal is the only team in T20 International to cross the 300-run mark. India is second in this list with 297 runs. In front of Zimbabwe’s score of 286 runs, the Seychelles team could score only 18 runs at the loss of 2 wickets in 6.1 overs till the match stopped due to rain. Zimbabwe won the match by 76 (DLS) runs. If both teams play at least 5 overs in T20, then the result of the match is calculated on the basis of DLS.
