Mumbai Indians: What was feared, happened. Before IPL 2025, 5-time champion Mumbai Indians has suffered a big setback. Bad news has come about the team’s star bowler Jasprit Bumrah. Jasprit Bumrah may miss the first few matches of IPL 2025 for Mumbai Indians (MI) as he has not yet fully recovered from his back injury.
This is a big setback for Mumbai Indians and its fans. Bumrah was injured during the Border-Gavaskar Trophy (BGT) 2024-25 on the Australia tour. He suffered this injury in the last match of the 5-match series, after which he could not bowl in the entire match. Due to this injury, Bumrah also had to be out of the ODI series against England and the Champions Trophy 2025. Now there is news of him being out of the opening matches of IPL 2025.
Can miss some matches
According to ESPNCricinfo report, Jasprit Bumrah is expected to join the team in early April. In such a situation, he will not be able to play MI’s scheduled 3 matches in March. It is not yet clear how many matches Bumrah will miss and when will he be able to return. BCCI is keeping a close eye on the fitness of the star bowler because after the IPL, Team India has to tour England for the Test series in June. In such a situation, the team management and medical team of BCCI would not want to rush into any kind of decision regarding Bumrah. Mumbai Indians are now waiting for the approval of the medical team of the National Cricket Academy (NCA) as the NCA will first declare Bumrah fit. Only then will the way be clear for the star bowler to join Mumbai.
