Richards himself revealed
Virat has considered him as one of his idols. Vivian Richards played professional cricket from 1971 to 1993. During this time, he played many innings from domestic cricket to international level. There have been many incidents related to Vivian Richards’ career. He once even batted stormy under the influence of alcohol. Richards himself once revealed that he once drank too much alcohol just a day before a county match. He did this with legendary English all-rounder Ian Botham. Then Vivian remembered that he had to play a match the next day.
Batting in a drunken state
He came out to bat the next day in a drunken state. He missed the first three balls, but then he hit a long six and the ball fell out of the field. Drunk Richards had then smashed 130 runs in 50 balls. If you notice, Vivian Richards had a brilliant international career. He scored 6721 runs in 187 ODI matches. During this period, he also hit 11 centuries. He scored 8540 runs in 121 test matches at an average of 50, which included 24 centuries.
