WPL 2025: Mumbai Indians won the title for the second time by defeating Delhi Capitals in the final on the basis of Nat Siver Brunt’s all-round performance. The team captained by Harman preet Kaur has become the winner by winning the final for the second time.
Earlier, in the first edition of the Women’s Premier League, Mumbai won the title by defeating Delhi. After this victory, Mumbai Indians owner Nita Ambani praised captain Harman preet Kaur and Nat Siver Brunt.
Played at Brabourne Stadium
Nita Ambani said that the way Harman preet Kaur and Nat Siver Brunt played in the title match is commendable. She further said that we had planned before the match that we have to stand till the end and the players did the same.Everyone fought hard till the end and the result was in our favour. The title match of the third edition of the tournament was played at the Brabourne Stadium on Saturday. In this match, Mumbai lost the toss and batted first and scored 149 runs at the loss of seven wickets in 20 overs. In reply, Delhi could only score 141 runs at the loss of nine wickets in the stipulated overs. In this way, Mumbai won the title for the second time.
Batsmen did not support Delhi
Chasing the target of 150 runs, Delhi did not get support from its batsmen. The team lost four wickets at a score of just 44. Captain Meg Lanning was out after scoring 13 runs and Shefali Verma was out after scoring just four runs. After this, Jess Jonason was caught out by Yastika Bhatia on the ball of Amelia Carr. She could score only 13 runs. For Delhi, Marijen Kapp played the highest innings of 40 runs. Apart from her, Jemima Rodrigues scored 30 runs. For Mumbai, Nat Siver Brunt took three wickets and Amelia Carr took two wickets. Shabnam Ismail, Hayley Matthews and Saiqa Ishak got one wicket each.
