IND vs NZ 2nd Test

IND vs NZ Test series: Yashasvi Jaiswal and Ravindra Jadeja’s fight went in vain, as India lost against the visiting team New Zealand in the Pune Test and in the ongoing three-match series. Team India lost the  first match, which is held in Bengaluru, trailing 0-1 to New Zealand before the Pune Test. Rohit Sharma-led India had to win the match; no other choice was in their hands.

India started the second match in a promising manner, as Washington Sundar, who have gotten a call from the Ranji Trophy, took seven wickets in the first innings and four wickets in the second, for a total of 11 wickets in the India vs. New Zealand second test match in Pune. Sundar’s bowling figure can be more memorable if India got a win over the Blackcaps under Tom Latham’s captaincy. Skipper Rohit Sharma has to face questions after dropping the test in home soil.

In an after-match press conference, Rohit Sharma said, “We failed to respond to challenges, and we sit here with that result. I don’t think we batted well enough to get runs on the board. You have to take 20 wickets, but the batters have to put runs on the board as well. We did not put in enough runs and then conceded a 100-run lead. It was a fightback from us, but it was always going to be challenging.”

He further said, “We did not bat well enough. They played better. Looking forward, we want to show up at Wankhede and win that test. It is a collective failure. The team has failed to accept the challenge thrown at us.”

After losing the home test series, team India now faces some turbulence in the WTC 2025 points table. Following this series, India will face a tough challenge in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy down under. India remains at the top of the points table with 62.820 and Australia in the second spot with 62.500.
