New Delhi: Discussions are heating up regarding the Central Contract list of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). According to media reports, Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli will remain in the A+ grade, while Shreyas Iyer is likely to be reinstated in the Central Contract. Meanwhile, there is also a significant update regarding wicketkeeper-batsman Ishan Kishan.
Notably, last year, BCCI dropped Shreyas Iyer and Ishan Kishan from the Central Contract list as both players did not participate in domestic cricket. Now, as per the latest reports, Iyer may get his contract back, but Ishan Kishan might have to wait longer.
Ishan Kishan will have to wait
According to a report by Sports Tak, a BCCI source stated that Ishan Kishan needs to further improve his form to regain his Central Contract. The source mentioned, “Ishan has made some improvements in certain aspects, but his performance has not been strong enough to warrant immediate inclusion in the contract list.”
Kishan last played for India in a T20 match against Australia in November last year, and his recent performances have not been particularly impressive. In IPL 2024, he scored 320 runs at an average of 23, and he failed to make a significant impact in domestic cricket. His T20 format average in 2024 stood at just 28.04, and he also fell short of expectations in the Ranji Trophy and India A’s tour of Australia.
Shreyas Iyer likely to get a contract
On the other hand, Shreyas Iyer has delivered outstanding performances. He was India’s highest run-scorer in the 2025 Champions Trophy with 243 runs and led Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) to the IPL 2024 title as captain. Given his impressive performances, BCCI is likely to reinstate his Central Contract. It will be interesting to see when and which players BCCI includes in the Central Contract list.
