Australia’s T20I World Cup-winning wicketkeeper-batsman Matthew Wade has announced his retirement from international cricket. Matthew Wade, who played a key role for Australia to win the T20 World Cup for the first time in 2021. Wade played international cricket for Australia for 13 years. He has experience of more than 200 international matches, but now this 36-year-old cricketer has said goodbye to international cricket.
Wade played a key role in several Australian victories in his 13-year career. Especially in the 2021 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, he blasted in the semi-finals against Pakistan. He defeated Babar Azam’s team by playing an unbeaten 41-run innings. At one time it seemed that Pakistan’s cricket team would easily win the match, but Wade created a stir as soon as he came to the crease. He scored an unbeaten 41 off 17 balls.
36-year-old Matthew Wade made his debut for Australia in 2011. He played his last match against India in the T20 World Cup this year. Since 2021, wicketkeeper -batsman Wade did not get a chance to play in ODIs and Tests. He was one of the heroes of Australia’s victory in the 2021 T20 World Cup. In the semi-final match against Pakistan, he hit three sixes against Shaheen Afridi to take Australia to the final.

Matthew Wade will join Australia’s coaching staff led by Andre Borowek for the upcoming T20 series against Pakistan. Along with this, he will also remain for the ODI series starting in Melbourne next week. Along with coaching, Wade will also continue to play domestic cricket. He will continue to play domestic cricket for Tasmania for at least the next two seasons and in the Big Bash League with the Hobart Hurricanes.
