Gautam Gambhir, BCCI: The Indian team’s performance in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25 against Australia has been underwhelming, resulting in a 3-1 defeat and the loss of the trophy after a decade. Head coach Gautam Gambhir is facing scrutiny following the series conclusion. Additionally, senior players such as Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli are receiving criticism for their performances.

BCCI review meeting

In light of this, a significant report has emerged indicating that the BCCI plans to conduct a review meeting with the coaching staff to discuss Team India’s performance in Australia.

Reports suggest that the BCCI will question head coach Gautam Gambhir about the team’s results. However, it appears unlikely that any coaching staff will be dismissed. Gambhir is expected to continue in his role, and both Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma are set to participate in the upcoming series against England.

According to a BCCI official…

A BCCI source informed media, stating, “There will be a review meeting, but no one will be dismissed. You cannot hold a coach accountable for the poor performance of batsmen in a series. Gautam Gambhir will remain the coach, and Virat and Rohit will play in the England series. The focus is on the Champions Trophy.”

The performances of Kohli and Sharma during the Border-Gavaskar Trophy were notably lacking, with Rohit opting out of the Sydney Test due to his form, which sparked retirement rumors that he has since denied.

Virat, Rohit to feature in the series against England?

Gautam Gambhir, along with Ravi Shastri and other cricketing legends, has advised senior batsmen to engage in domestic cricket. According to the BCCI source’s comments, both Kohli and Sharma are expected to feature in the matches against England.
