Tamil Nadu won by an innings and 70 runs against Saurashtra in a Ranji Trophy match; credit goes to Gurjapneet Singh, who took 6 wickets alone. Gurjapneet Singh took all six wickets in the second innings of the match. Veterans like Cheteshwar Pujara and Saurashtra captain Jaydev Unadkat lose their wickets in Singh’s overs.
Saurashtra scored 203 runs in the first inning of the match. Tamil Nadu replied with 367 runs on the scoreboard. Saurashtra is not good enough to battle against Tamilnadu. In-form pacer Gurjapneet Singh made their work more difficult as he took six wickets within his 14-over spell at an economy rate of 1.57. He took 5 maiden overs also.
Recently, Gurjapneet was one of the net bowlers for team India for their two-match Test series against Bangladesh. Gurjapneet then got a chance to bowl Virat Kohli. Recalling his memory, Gurjapneet said to the Indian Express, “After I bowled him, I looked at him and didn’t dare to look at him again. He was very, very angry. But I realised he was angry with himself more than anything. And after a straight drive, he again looked at me and smiled.”

Gurjapneet Singh is a promising Indian fast-medium left-arm bowler born on November 8, 1998. Currently making a name for himself in the Tamil Nadu Premier League (TNPL), he plays for the Siechem Madurai Panthers. Gurjapneet is known for his ability to consistently bowl in the mid-130 km/h range, generating bounce and pace from the surface, alongside his skill in delivering yorkers and deceptive slower balls. Despite being sidelined by a back injury in 2022, he has made a strong comeback, taking 13 wickets in the 2023 TNPL season with an impressive economy rate of 5.95.
His experience as a net bowler for the Chennai Super Kings and his mentorship under prominent figures like Ravichandran Ashwin have helped refine his craft. With his sights set on playing in both red-ball and white-ball formats for Tamil Nadu, Gurjapneet is seen as a future star in Indian domestic cricket.
