Team India’s dashing player, Virat Kohli, and star batsman, Shubman Gill, both flopped badly in the first innings of the Gabba Test against Australia. Both of these key middle-order batters lost their wickets after playing poor shots. Virat and Shubman couldn’t even cross the double-digit mark. In such a situation, both of them made a surprising decision on the fourth day of the Gabba Test. While Team India’s batting was in progress, Virat and Gill were seen practising in the nets, sweating it out.
Indian batters have struggled with shot selection, particularly against deliveries outside the off-stump channel. Both Virat Kohli and Shubman Gill were dismissed by balls outside the fourth stump. Shubman Gill could score only 1 and Virat Kohli could score only 3 runs for Team India in Gaba. They seemed unable to judge whether to play or leave these deliveries. That’s why, before the start of the second innings, both were seen practising these shots.

Harbhajan Singh Shares Belief in Shubman Gill’s Potential
Despite the poor batting performance by the visitors so far, former India spinner and 2011 World Cup winner Harbhajan Singh attended the practice session to observe the behind-the-scenes moments of the star Indian batters. After watching their practice, Bhajji expressed his belief in Shubman Gill’s potential. He also praised Virat Kohli’s batting.

“The more you play, the better you get, and Shubman Gill and Virat Kohli will hope that when they come out to bat in the next innings for India, they can score a big daddy hundred for their team,” said Harbhajan Singh, speaking exclusively on Star Sports while observing the net practice session.
Virat Kohli’s Struggles in the Match
Virat Kohli has been out of form for Team India for a while. While he played strongly in Perth, he has struggled to score runs in Adelaide and now in Gabba. His poor performance has created problems for Team India, especially with his difficulty handling balls that go outside the off-stump.

Team India’s Current Situation in the Gabba Test
In this rain-affected match, Team India managed to score 252 runs for the loss of 9 wickets on Day 4. Akashdeep Singh and Jasprit Bumrah are currently at the crease for India. Australia still holds a 193-run lead in the first innings.
