IND vs AUS: India faced a 6-wicket loss in the Sydney Test, with Australia successfully chasing a target of 162 runs. The absence of Jasprit Bumrah significantly eased Australia’s challenge. Tasked with leading the team in Rohit Sharma’s absence, Bumrah did not bowl during Australia’s second innings. He left the field after lunch on the second day due to a back issue, having taken two wickets in the first innings. On the third day, he was dismissed for three runs and was not seen on the field on Sunday, leading to speculation regarding his injury. Bumrah has now spoken out about the situation.

Bumrah has claimed 32 wickets

Throughout the Australia series, Bumrah has demonstrated exceptional form, claiming 32 wickets and earning the Player of the Series accolade. After the loss in Sydney, he expressed, “It’s definitely a bit disappointing, but sometimes you must prioritize your health and make tough decisions. Missing out on bowling on what was likely the best wicket of the series is frustrating. I felt a bit anxious in the first innings, but I chose to concentrate on my performance. When one bowler is sidelined, the others must rise to the occasion.”

Commendable fight against Australia

Despite India’s series loss, Bumrah feels the team put up a commendable fight against Australia, who secured the Border-Gavaskar Trophy after a decade, winning the series 3-1.

Bumrah remarked, “The series was filled with intense competition. We were never completely out of contention. Test cricket is about applying and managing pressure while adapting to the situation. These experiences will be invaluable moving forward. Our young players have gained significant experience, which they can leverage in the future. We possess a wealth of talent in our squad. While many young players are understandably disappointed by the outcome, they will learn from this experience.”
